Gone in Sixty Seconds

by Diane Estrella on March 10, 2010

A minute……… sixty seconds…….. not a lot of time to accomplish much, or is it?

I’ll be there in a minute” can seem like an eternity to a child.  Right now, each of us has a choice on how we are going to spend the next minute of our lives.

What are some things that can be done in a minute or less that can have unlimited time benefits?

  • Text message, tweet, or facebook a friend and just let them know you’re thinking about them
  • Give a hug to someone you love (with a big wet willy snuck in— optional)
  • Really look at that girl at checkout, smile and pay her a compliment
  • Stop whatever I’m doing and be near my child for just a moment even if I don’t have any additional time to spare
  • Pause……… just stop and reflect on exactly where you are and what you are doing at THIS moment
  • Some kind of stomach crunch or Kegel exercises while sitting in the chair you’re in, right now….. :O)

Any other suggestions that you can come up with to make the most of every minute of every day?  Just taking it one purposeful minute at a time helps.   Eventually, we all run out of time.  What will your last minutes be like?

Janna Qualman wrote a great post here on”FIVE“.  What are your plans for the next five minutes?  Five days?  Five months?  Five years from now???

I’m bad at not paying attention to what’s around me. I need to savor the little things more.
Thanks for the reminder! :)

This is a rich reminder. Every minute counts, especially when we opt for each minute to have purpose. Wow! I’ll carry this with me Diane.

Great ideas, Diane! I’m going to get the mail. I know – not very exciting or significant, but it only takes a minute. :)

Blessings,
Susan

You know it is funny Diane…the older I get the more I pay attention to the “little” things…I wonder if others do as well???

I always take the time to listen to what my grandsons have to say, I really “look” out on the lake, watch the sun set completely and see the stunning color changes in the sky, laugh at my silly kitty…

Cheers

I like to fill a minute with a prayer for a friend who needs a job, a nephew who’s lost, our government leaders–they need more than a minute!

Excellent post, as usual.

Here’s my hug for you, a big one!

This is a great way to approach your day. Taking minutes here and there to fill up your soul or stretch those tired muscles (spiritual and physical :) I love poetry, so I take a minute between household chores to read one of my favorite poems. It always lifts me up!

Oh MAN…you’re making me think this morning? Definitely food for thought. I think we should all stop and think about how we spend the minutes of our day. Are we maximizing them? Are we doing things that really matter, or just wasting time?

just thought I’d say every time I hear/read the word Kegel I automatically do one- I once was an OB teacher teeehee. Remembering good ole times is good for me. Take time to hear the sounds, smell the air & be thankful for my blessings!
