I interviewed Emily on my blog back in December 2009. In case you missed it, you can read the interview here. I’ve asked Emily to come back and share what she’s been working on recently and she’s offered to be a part of the giveaway here by donating a copy of her book to one lucky reader.
“The funny thing about writing is the more you do it the more you are forced to step outside the bounds you started in.
When I first started writing I practiced the art of mystery writing for hours on end, but now that I have one published I find I have to branch out more and more into other types of writing.
Blogging and my public Face Book page are two examples. There are no mysterious plots, diverse characters, or dialogue necessary for either, so at first I didn’t quite feel comfortable with the format. I write fiction after all! But the more I worked with it, the more fun I had. It’s turned out to be a really great way to meet people who have the same interests and share ideas. People have even gotten into some good discussion on my Fan Page, covering everything from the components of fiction to the type of content books should have…and yes, the proper hair color for heroines in books often comes up too.
I’m also slowly testing out the world of shorter fiction for different small publications. That’s been interesting! Instead of just writing until the story feels finished, I’ve encounter something called a “word limit.” Apparently it is possible to write a decent story in under 2,000 words. The discovery has forced me into test running new genres.
Either way, I hope that broadening my writing perspective will help my over all writing. And in the meantime I get to connect with a lot of great people!”
THE BOOK: FBI agent, Scott Malkin, did not believe in God, heaven, and certainly not angels…until a simple bank robbery went horribly wrong.
In her first novel, Only Angels Are Bulletproof, Emily Ann Benedict takes her reader on a page turning ride of suspense and mystery when a seemingly random young woman is fatally shot in front of Scott and dozens of witnesses, yet survives and disappears before anyone can question her.
Scott’s quest to stop a plague of bank robberies in the Los Angeles area quickly becomes a quest to prove that things such as angels and miracles do not exist.
But when the hunt turns deadly and threatens to consume his friends and family, Scott is faced with one very strange question: Is believing Only Angles Are Bulletproof the only way to stop a criminal?
For one entry leave a comment below to be in the running for her book Only Angels are Bulletproof.
