The only way I can describe it is Ahhhhhhhhh!
Chaos, mayhem, craziness and me….out of sorts.
Reconstructing our 100 year old house has been an ongoing process now for over three years. Chipping away and removing old, in some cases, water damaged lathe and plaster and putting up new sheet rock walls in each and every room is tiring. My husband and his two friends have chipped away at projects, turning years of neglected ugliness into a live-able home.
Lesson learned…… sometimes things get ugly and messy. Not just messy, hideous! Underneath there is a whole lotta yukkiness that I don’t want to deal with. It’s covered up, right? Hidden and not hurting anyone……….? WRONG!
Decay, rot and mold could eat this house from the inside out.
How about our hearts? Our minds? What’s in there “hidden” and rotting? Those things we have stuffed into the corners of our hearts and minds, eventually do come out. One way or another, things NOT dealt with have a way of being uncovered.
So I ask, is there anything in you that needs to be reconstructed? I can’t promise it will be pleasant or easy at times, but what you will have when you’re finished will be a shiny, new you! Cyber hugs going out for your renovation project!!!!

Ooh, construction on my house–or myself–makes me crazy. But when all the dust is settled, it’s so worth it in the end.
Good luck with the renovations!
WOW…..same as in our lives…some things get ugly, but when GOD tears the walls down and reconstructs….the new beautiful building (us) is beautiful!
Hugs,

I think I’ll be under construction until I leave this place. Everyday some dust appears. Wiping, polishing, but tomorrow a new layer will appear.
Good analogy. Somehow that makes it seem like our character is more of an authentic work in progress. Thanks for sharing this. Best wishes with your home renovations!
Blessings,
Karen
I’m with Tamika on the reconstruction! I’m always finding new things to chip away at!
Good luck with all those renovations! I need to refurbish me too! Especially when it comes to exercise. Spring is coming just in time for my walks.
Love the analogy! I believe we are all a work in progress, and we only reach completion when we meet Him.
My heart goes out to you on your remodel… being married to a contractor, I totally feel your pain!
Construction and renovations are stressful! *hugs* for the chaos it must bring into your life.
I’ve had to do some renovating in my life over the past few years. It’s never easy, but the end result is a healthier you and it’s worth it.
Happy Construction!!!
I’ve lived with construction, on & off for 30 years…in fact when I was away this past February my husband completely gutted our bedroom & master bath and redid it completely!!! I don’t think I could have stood it if I was there!!!!!!!!! Having said that I have a gorgeous updated bedroom & bathroom… :0)
I’m a work in progress, probably always will be…I think we all are!
Cheers
I would love to renovate my response to people. I find myself too often angry or impatient or critical. There, I said it. Now to scrape, gut, dig out the rotten and replace with new.
Thanks be to God, His mercies are new every morning!
Love you,
Jen

Ugh! I am so tired of remodeling projects! Best of luck to you guys, Diane.
Definitely! I feel like I’ll be under construction until the day I die. But it’s a good thing. Painful, but good.
Great post! We too often avoid “remodeling” ourselves because it’s hard and painful, but the beautiful results always make the pain worth it.
Good luck with your continued house projects. I totally understand. Our house was in a state of total disarray when we moved in.
Ugh. Good luck with all that. Looks stressful. Though it does resemble my WIP. If I could just hire some good lookin’ manly contractors to come in and edit and revise for me.
Diane, oh, I sooo know what it’s like. We’ve been living in our for four years, and reconstructing/remodeling from the get-go. My husband won’t be able to talk me into this again! Still, we already see the worth, and it’s awesome living in a house we’ve put our own touch on. Even if it’s been incredibly hard work. Hang in there! (I’m envious of your house’s age!)
Diane, wow, 100 year old house! I bet it’s going to be wonderful all finished. You know, construction in lives is forever. But we just hide it better,…sometimes….
Good post.
It’s so tough going through a renov, but so worth it. Remind me of that when we start on our guest bath. Ah ha ha
Oh goodness. I cannot imagine living with all that going on! Bless your heart! May it end soon!!!!!
Hugs to you as you go through this renovation and what a beautifully insightful post! I love it!
