Book Review & GIVEAWAY: Spirit Fighter (Son of Angels, Jonah Stone) By Jerel Law

by Diane Estrella

WINNER SELECTED~~~Sarah Scheele !

About the Book

What if Nephilim—the children of angels and men—still walked the earth? And their very presence put the entire world in danger? In Spirit Fighter, Jonah and Eliza Stone learn that their mother is a Nephilim and that they have special powers as quarter-angels. When their mom is kidnapped by fallen angels, they must use those powers to save her. Along the way, they discover that there is a very real and dangerous war going on between good and evil and that God has a big part for them to play in that war.

Parents today are looking for fiction that makes Christianity and the Bible exciting for their kids. This series is the Christian answer to Percy Jackson and the Olympians, The Kane Chronicles, The Secret Series and other middle-grade series packed with adventure, action, and supernatural fights. Son of Angels, Jonah Stone will be the first series in the market to explore this topic from a biblical perspective with content that is appropriate and exciting for middle-grade readers.

Our Review

My daughter’s thoughts: This is an adventurous book with lots of mythical creatures in it some of which are from the Bible like the Leviathan. I highly recommend it for kids my age. It was a very exciting start for the first novel in the series and I think the author is a very talented writer. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

My thoughts: Just to give you an indication of how much my daughter really loved this book, she read it twice in two days time!

This book caused me to shed tears, more than once, while reading it. Truly! Not because it was sad or scary, but because of the power and truths included in this story. I just kept thinking how proud and exciting it was that our champions, a 13 year old boy and an 11 year old girl, really got it. Because they heard and believed God’s written Word, by faith, they were able to do the supernatural.

My only word of caution is that there are multiple descriptions of evil beings in this book that may be too realistic for some juvenile readers. I appreciated that the author is trying to make everyone, regardless of age, understand that there is a very real battle out there and both angels and demons are fighting alongside us.

This story is for every kid out there, that dreams to do something incredible with their lives one day. We all have “super-hero” abilities and are capable of big things because of who He is and the power He gives us. Will you answer the call? Do you have that kind of faith?

Even though my boys are older, they still enjoy a good supernatural story. Count me in!

I love it that your daughter read it twice! That says how much it appeals to youngsters. She did a good job on her review :)
