Book Description
Have you ever felt bored with God?
Everyone, especially teenagers, struggles with being bored with God from time to time. Sometimes church services and Bible reading don’t seem that exciting, and it’s easy to get busy and not make time to pray . . . but when this happens, we are missing out!
Jenna Lucado Bishop shares her testimony and others’ stories to see what a radical, living relationship with God looks like. But this book is not just based on feelings. The Bible gives steps that will help girls hunger and thirst for more of God.
This book will not only offer girls a fresh perspective, but it will also help them do a little soul-searching and discover where they are in their own lives. Plus, it will let them in on the world’s greatest secret—that the Creator of the Universe loves and cherishes them deeply and that a fulfilling relationship with Him is the most exciting they will ever have.
My Review
In case the flowers on the cover didn’t give it away, this book is written for girls and to girls. It’s recommended for ages 12 and up, but this “and up” gal really got a lot out of this book. There are some stories included that involve prostitution and other mature-ish content. My only caution would be for parents to decide at what age they feel it is appropriate for their girls to read about these things.
The author gives eleven compelling reasons why we get bored with God. Seeing these reasons put together in one place is very compelling and challenging to one’s faith. God does not change nor diminish, we lose our perspective of Him.
“I believe God wants us to know that if we are bored with Him, we aren’t bored with the true God; we are bored with an idea of God–an idea others have created, religion has created, our own minds have created.”
Love this quote. We are always the ones that back away— NEVER Him!
The author has a great voice that speaks directly to the reader. It is a powerful and thought-provoking book that will make you re-evaluate why the blahs in your relationship with God aren’t the awes they should be. Use this book and turn your yawns, into yelps of excitement to renew your love for God.

Great cover, great title, great review, thanks Diane. I hope this is not the wife of… because that would defenitely stop me from buying it…
Yeah, that quote is a great way of thinking about it. Boredom based on an unreal image is an issue.
Good review Diana–looks interesting.
Sounds like a great book. Thanks for mentioning the more "adult" themes in there, too.
Great review! It sounds like a wonderful book.

This sounds like a great book as a conversation starter for my 4th graders in my religion class.
