Scholastic’s next multi-platform mega-event begins here!
History is broken, and three kids must travel back in time to set it right!
When best friends Dak Smyth and Sera Froste stumble upon the secret of time travel — a hand-held device known as the Infinity Ring — they’re swept up in a centuries-long secret war for the fate of mankind. Recruited by the Hystorians, a secret society that dates back to Aristotle, the kids learn that history has gone disastrously off course.
Now it’s up to Dak, Sera, and teenage Hystorian-in-training Riq to travel back in time to fix the Great Breaks . . . and to save Dak’s missing parents while they’re at it. First stop: Spain, 1492, where a sailor named Christopher Columbus is about to be thrown overboard in a deadly mutiny!
My Review
This is a superb book and I can’t wait for the next one in the series! James Dashner is an awesome writer, and I could really picture myself on the Sante Maria standing next to Christopher Columbus.
Although it may not look it, this would be a great book for you parents out there to read alongside and/or to your children ages 7+. There is lots of mystery and adventure that anyone would be really interested in. Plus, when reading this book, there’s the history lesson bonus so that kids can learn about history and not even realize it. Now that’s what I call hidden education!
I feel kids can really connect with Dak and Sera because they are young and cool to know. They’re smart too and have super above-average mega powered brains to solve riddles. It was Sera who fixed the Infinity Ring, when Dak’s scientist-parents couldn’t.
Also if you buy this book, it will come with a secret guide which can be used online to play games and learn more. The quest can continue on and so can the fun.

I won this book a while back and I’m itching to get to it. Now, I’m totally sold and I may read it next! I’m glad to hear you say that kids ages 7+ would enjoy it. I might ask my daughter (who is 9) if she is interested in reading it. Thanks for linking into the Kid Lit Blog Hop. Looking forward to having you as co-host the next time around! Cheers!
