Now, I could give you the typical pictures (BOOORRRING) you’d see from any road trip, but that would so, NOT be me. Here are the highlights and outtakes from my trip to New York City, where I spoke at KidLitCon 2012. It was exhausting but a ton of fun, and I would definitely do it again in a heartbeat.

Injury alert!!! No, this is not a ‘love bite!’ Hot iron burn to the side of the neck. Thank God my hair covered it. The show must go on, right???!!

Leo, the Lego Lion greeted me when I entered the library. Should I be heading into this with a roar instead of a ‘peep peep?’

…and now the moment you’ve all been waiting for. Just to show you how real I really am. I do it for my fans! Yes, once again pit stains. Nervous + anxiety equals sweat for me. Can somebody please recommend a high powered deodorant for next time? Thanks!
I really had a wonderful time. Thank you all for your words of support and love. I felt like you were there with me in spirit! A big thank you to Elizabeth Bird of A Fuse #8 Production along with Monica Edinger (Educating Alice) for hosting this wonderful event!
A few lovelies even quoted from my presentation. Below are the tweetable moments from the KidLitosphere, #KidLitCon12…. who knew I had any in me??!!!?!
Cecelia Larsen @celialarsen shared:
“A blog is your voice. There’s no wrong way to blog.”
Liz McKenna @stufflizreads tweeted:
“Thinking about ‘niche’ blogging, do you have more than one interest you can cross into?”
JoEllen McCarthy @imalwayslearnin tweeted:
“Blogging is a permanent record of your thoughts. It’s a journal for years to come.”
And finally….
“Do you have a ‘who would listen to me’ attitude or an ‘I’ve got to be heard attitude’?” Thanks Liz McKenna @stufflizreads and Maureen Kearney @mosylu
Thanks and hugs to all of you!

Oh, I wish I could have been there to listen to you speak. I bet you’re an amazingly fascinating speaker.
But really, I still think it looks like a love bite! And um, where are all the books in that library. It just looks so…bare!
Thanks for sharing those picts. It’s nice to live vicariously through you!
Definite burn. Singed skin and all. The room they had me in was empty. It was kinda book sad. :O(
Glad you had a great time! Love the photos!
Thanks Renee! :O)
