One Big Thing: Discovering What You Were Born to Do by Phil Cooke

by Diane Estrella

One Big Thing is about finding out what you were born to do with your life and how to use it to revolutionize your business or ministry-and change the world.

In a complex, multi-layered world, it’s more difficult than ever to get your voice heard and to accomplish your dreams. To stand out today, you need to cut through the clutter and get noticed. Making that happen means to focus on the one thing in your life that drives you, inspires your passion, and separates you from the pack.

For everyone who’s been pulled in different directions, born with multiple abilities, or just wondered what to do with their lives, this is the answer. Phil Cooke helps you not only discover that one big thing, but also teaches you the secrets of making an unforgettable impact with your life.

My Review

I wish Phil had been my guidance counselor in high school. I really could’ve avoided a lot of wasted years…..

This book is an excellent resource for anyone and everyone. You are never too old, too far removed, or too lost to find out what your One Big Thing (OBT) is in life and change course if necessary. There are a lot of nuggets to pull from and tons of encouragement so you will find direction towards your OBT and not give up on YOUR life. Phil does not wave a magic wand and grant you your One Big Thing but gives lots of road markers that you can follow on your way to what your path is.

For me, this book showed me what was gently highlighted in my life, then put it all together with a soft, spotlight shining on it. Some of the questions Phil asks are:

  • What comes easy for you?
  • What do you love?
  • What drives you crazy?
  • What do you want to leave behind?

Phil tells it like it is…. what he’s seen, and what he’s experienced. It has given me a renewed sense of purpose and passion for my life and what it could be……. FULFILLED and EXCITING!!!

I like the questions at the end. They help narrow your focus to what really matters.
