Whatever it is you want to do or want to be, there are always obstacles in the way to you getting there. What’s keeping you from going from Point A to Point B in your journey?
Here’s my list of reasons excuses:
Honestly….. My laziness is a big one. It’s a lot of WORK! My stamina is low. My self discipline to hang in there is practically nil. There are so many things that I can distract myself with, with not much effort…. Ahh.
My brain…. How many times do we talk ourselves out of something big? We flip….. we flop. I am a writer, I’m not a writer. I wrote a blog post on a) even admitting I was a writer was hard enough and b) figuring out what kind of writer I am and not being ashamed or embarrassed by it.
My busyness. Yes there are a lot of “have to’s” in life that need to get done but then there is a lot of other stuff that keeps you distracted from reaching your goal. My blog and social media takes up a LOT of space in the day. Keeping it up, doing research, getting giveaways together are like a part time job which I do love, but it is a lot of TIME.
I love Phil Cooke’s thoughts on How to achieve Olympic levels of success here. Yup. Find the journey to your One Big Thing and get there!
You and me, we can do it. Point B here we come!

That link is so simple and so great.
Yes, I struggle too. But we CAN do it.
Diane, I LOVED this post! It's so reassuring to know there are other writers out there like me. And I do know that most of us have those same "faults." I think writing is the only profession that can be so loved by the "employee" and loathed at the same time! Thanks for this, and have a great weekend!
You and I are too much alike
I can totally identify with all your reasons and claim them as my own!
Hi Diane –
Blogging can eat your lunch! I recently cut back to twice a week because of the time commitment.
Like everything, we must allocate our time and set boundaries.
Blessings,
Susan
